Excited for your cabin vacation at Rustic Rim Hideaway? If you decide to take the scenic route, i.e., the open road, you can make the off-road experience memorable and safe for your children as well.

Top Tips for a Fun and Safe Off-Roading Experience for Kids

Here are some tips that can help you make it safe and fun for the whole family:

Plan a Suitable Route

Nothing is as annoying as 'Are we there yet?' on repeat from the back seat. Before heading off on the road with your family in your 4x4, consider your kids' ages, along with your family's off-roading experience. It will help you plan a suitable route.

For example, choose a smoother trail if you have toddlers who can get uneasy on rough terrain. If you have few choices in this matter, travel when the weather is clear. The last thing you want is to be bogged down in muddy trails in the middle of nowhere.

Make Sure Everyone Is Comfortable

Traveling from Phoenix will take you at least two and a half hours to get to your cabin at Rustic Rim Hideaway. That's a lot of hours without exercise or much stimulation. Make your kids as comfortable as possible for the journey with pillows, blankets, and comfortable clothing. It will also help them doze off for their nap.

Plus, even if you plan on eating along the way at the nearest gas station, pack some snacks for the road. Make sure these are easy to eat, such as crackers, granola bars, cheese sticks, etc. Beverages should be drinkable with a straw, such as juice boxes that won't spill if your kids get antsy in the back or a fight between siblings.

Safety First

Make sure your 4-wheeler has age-appropriate car seats for each of your kids. Since you will be driving off the beaten paths, your family will get jostled around, so make sure your children have helmets on for bumpy routes.

In fact, upgrade the adult seats with harnesses for the whole family. The last thing you need is your partner or you getting injured, especially when you have small children with you. You may not be able to get medical services in the middle of nowhere.
